  1. INTRODUCTION TO CHRISTIAN MEDITATION
The Australian Christian Meditation Community is offering a free series of three introductory workshops helping participants discover an ancient approach to silent contemplative prayer – which has its roots in the ‘desert’ tradition of the very early Christian centuries as well as in Jesus’ principles of prayer outlined in Matthew’s Gospel. The ACMC is part of an inclusive, grassroots world community, established in London in the 1970s to promote silent meditation through weekly groups, workshops, retreats, seminars and newsletters, and meeting in homes, parishes, schools, offices, hospitals, prisons and universities. It supports 500 groups in Australia, including long-running groups in Romsey, Woodend, Kyneton, Gisborne and Kilmore, attracting people from varying Christian backgrounds. The introductory workshops will be conducted by Stephen Holgate, former National Coordinator of the ACMC, on Wednesdays 12, 19, 26 October, 6-7pm in the Norma Richardson Hall, 15 Buckland St. Woodend. 6. THE MOUNT PLAYERS PRESENT …
’Whose Wives Are They Anyway?’ by Michael Parker is being Directed by Frank Harvey. (FEATURING BRAEMAR’S OWN ADAM GEHLING!)
It’s an action packed, hilarious comedy/farce that will have you giggling from the moment the curtain goes up! The scene is set at a golf weekend where David & John (who have packed their wives off on a shopping weekend) intend to ‘golf their brains out’ before they meet their new CEO on Monday morning. Little do they know, the CEO has also checked in to the same golf club and on running into them insists on meeting them for dinner that evening ….including their wives. She informs them that “any man who goes off for a weekend of golf and leaves his wife behind will have no place in her organisation.” Panic & mayhem develops into a downward spiral of total chaos as our intrepid executives have one hour in which to find substitute wives or it’s “curtains” come Monday morning!!
Opening Night is November 18th and the season will run till December 10th at The Mount View Theatre, 56 Smith Street, Macedon.
For tickets go to our website http://www.themountplayers.com.au or phone our box office on 5426 1892

  7. We have an exciting new project for the Macedon Ranges, hopefully right here in Woodend.

For just over eight months a group of us have gathered to discuss reinvigorating the Woodend Community Centre and squash court site. To do this properly we now need to open the discussion wider to hear the community’s own ideas and thoughts for this site.

We have composed this online survey which we hope you will complete. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CPZLXWJ Not only that, we’d like you to forward it to all of your local networks, colleagues and friends within the Shire so we can gather a collective vision for this precinct. Our aim is to collect 500 surveys, so we really need your help.

An additional way you and your friends could get on board at this stage is to send us a letter of support for the proposal, preferably on letterhead to geburrhcentre@gmail.com to demonstrate community support as we apply for initial funding for a feasibility and business case study. Please take time to follow our progress on the website http://www.geburrhcentre.com – it’s an evolving website with updates regularly posted.

Thank you in advance for your valuable contribution!

    The Geburrh Centre Team

Macedon Ranges Shire Council will be hosting a Youth Summit for young people aged 17-25 on Saturday 13 May at the Kyneton Mechanics Institute between 10.00-12.30.

The Youth Summit is a unique opportunity for young people to have their voice heard on the issues that matter most to them. The outcomes of the Summit will feed directly into the forthcoming Youth Strategy for the Macedon Ranges, and the event will be attended by the Mayor and Councillors. The Summit will touch on issues around mental health, motivation, life skills, AOD and relationships (the short list has been developed through ongoing consultations with young people in focus groups).

It is expected that over 40 young people will attend the Summit, so it’s a great opportunity for students to connect with other young people from across the Shire. Morning tea will be provided and there is no cost to attend.
