Year 5 – Civics and Citizenship Incursion

Earlier today, our Year 5 students had a number of interesting visitors from the justice and law enforcement communities as part of their Civics and Citizenship studies. Mr Rohan Miller and Mr David Plunkett spoke to the students about their roles as lawyers and how they work to uphold justice. Two police officers also visited to talk about their roles as law enforcers. Sergeant Eddy Barake runs the police station at Romsey, while Australian Federal Policeman, Brian Birch plays an important role in counter terrorism operations at the Melbourne Airport.

We were very lucky to have such engaging speakers; the students paid rapt attention and asked some terrific questions. It was a great presentation and the group learned a lot about law and the law enforcement and justice roles in our community.
