Earlier this week, Monday May 8, 200 young musicians from Braemar and surrounding schools came together to make music together in an exciting full-day workshop, Music @ the Mount. The students from Braemar, Sacred Heart, Gisborne Secondary and Candlebark ranged in age and experience levels, with musicians from Year 5 to Year 12 taking part.
The students spent the morning split into sectional workshops including classical; brass and woodwind; rhythm; and vocal. Each of the workshops was lead by a number of teachers and guests and allowed the students to learn a few pieces that they could perform to the group later in the day.
After a sausage sizzle lunch (which was sponsored by the Macedon Ranges Music Collective), each of the groups performed their pieces learned earlier in the day before joining together for one big group ensemble.
Shaun Evans, our Director of Music, has put together a fantastic short video of the group ensemble; watch the video here.
Thank you to all the staff and students who took part in Music @ the Mount, 2017; it was a rewarding and exciting experience for everyone involved.
