Year 8 Docklands Visit

Our Year 8 students recently visited the Melbourne Docklands to see urban renewal in action as part of the fieldwork assessment component of their Encounter Geography Unit on Urbanisation.IMG_1429

A focus was on the liveability of the Docklands, and redevelopment of the old docks into a thriving residential and business precinct of Melbourne.

Students were fortunate to hear from the Manager of the  Exhibition Centre DFO Centre in regards to construction facts and figures about the Docklands area. They also made their way around the Southbank district across the river to Harbour town.IMG_1426

Thank you to parents who assisted with the Docklands walk, Alex Murffet, Ellen Downs, Brett Harnett and Carly Ellis.

PHOTO COMPETITION

The students created visual presentations based on film footage and photographs of their excursion.

A photographic competition is being held based on the Docklands views, and over 100 photos have been entered.

Students will vote on the photos this week. Here are some samples of their amazing work.
