FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid Course for Parents and Carers

As part of the Live4Life Initiative across the Macedon Ranges, a 14-hour course in Youth Mental Health First Aid is being offered to all interested parents and carers who have students (between 12-18 years) at Live4Life schools, including Braemar College.

The course is FREE for parents and teachers from Braemar.

The Youth MHFA course teaches adults, including parents and carers, how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental illness or are in a mental health crisis.

Developing mental illnesses covered:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Eating disorders
  • Psychosis
  • Substance misuse

Please note that this course is not for adolescents to attend. This course is also not a therapy or support group. Rather it is an education course.

  • 13, 20, 27 July & 3 August @ Leadlight Room-Holgates, Woodend (Men’s Course) 6pm-9.30pm*
  • 13 & 20 August @ Gisborne Council Offices 9am-4.30pm
  •  5, 12, 19 & 26 October @ Newman Room-Town Hall, Kyneton 6pm-9.30pm

Bookings can be made through the Macedon Ranges Shire Council website. Places are limited.
