According to the Career Junk blog, employers often ask applicants to handwrite letters so they can see whether their handwriting can be easily read.

They want to know if applicants will be able to write the following tasks legibly as this will save their business time and money.

  • Appointments/bookings
  • An instructional note for the next person
  • Product orders (eg. for a car)
  • Phone messages
  • Your time-sheet
