Year 12 Legal Studies

Recently our Year 12 Legal Studies class visited Loddon Prison as part of their studies.

After passing through security, students spoke to two prison guards about their careers, a typical day and week at Loddon Prison, and the highlights and challenges of working with prisoners.

12 leg (2)Prisoners are kept occupied working in jobs in the laundry and kitchen, and making ANZAC pins to be sold for charity.

12 legStudents were introduced to four prisoners who spoke of life choices, and gave students advice to ‘Stay away from drugs, and make sure your friends are good people who steer you on the right path.’

The visit gave students a clearer understanding of how the legal system works, and how life differs for prisoners according to the severity of their crimes.
