Congratulations to our VCE Unit 3 and 4 musicians who competed at Bendigo last weekend.
In the Senior Ensemble section Braemar College came equal first with the Bendigo Senior Secondary Ensemble.
The students all received a medal and the adjudicator described their playing as ‘a joyful and well crafted performance’. Tom Martin prepared the students admirably and the adjudicator was impressed with their performance of Paul Kelly’s ‘Down on the Jetty’ that included voice, guitar, clarinet, trumpet and violin.
In the larger solo section, our students competed in a very strong field of twenty-three competitors, and placed extremely well, achieving the following results:
Second Place – Matt Wansink, guitar
Third Place – Amelia Eddy, clarinet
Honourable mention – Amber Hemmes, contemporary voice
All our students performed well and received high marks for poise and presentation.
The day was supported by the Year 12 music students’ parents who patiently listened to the whole afternoon of the competition.
We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful playing of John Tungyep who gave up a large part of his weekend to accompany several of our students.
