For carers of those with mental health issues

Following its successful public forums in 2014, PS My Family Matters is launching a series of more informal workshops for 2015.

‘The purpose of these workshops will be to enable carers to talk to specific service providers, in a more relaxed, informal manner’ said President, Tamara Wilson, recently honored for community service in the Australia Day awards ‘We have found that carers of those with a mental health issue value the opportunity to meet with people like themselves and to talk about their experiences

The workshop series will start on 11th March when Carers Victoria will talk to the group about their role in the community and the Carers Recognition Act and take questions. The workshop will run from 10am-noon, at the CFA Incident Control Center, Nexus Centre, Gisborne. Call 0475 269 965 to register your interest.Screen shot 2015-03-13 at 10.00.11 AM

‘We’re also starting monthly get together for carers, with no agenda, just a chance to meet and socialize’ Tamara said. ‘This will be an opportunity for carers to come along, have coffee and chat.’

Coffee for Carers will run on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 10am at Café LaCibo in Gisborne. The next one will be 17 March.
