Host Families Needed for Visiting Japanese Students

Next month Braemar College, in association with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Melbourne Homestay Centre, will be hosting a group of students visiting from Tokai City, Japan. After the success of the last three programs, we are looking forward to welcoming a larger group of 14 year old Japanese students to the Macedon Ranges.

Some components of the exchange program are being organised by the Melbourne Homestay Centre. Host families from the Braemar College community are currently being sought by Melbourne Homestay Centre to provide meals and accommodation for four nights from 5:00pm on Wednesday 18 March – Sunday 22 March 2015. The place of pick up and return is Braemar College. Host families will be paid on a per night basis.

Please note that the visiting students will not be able to travel to and from Braemar College on an Organs bus. It is therefore the responsibility of host families to transport the visiting students to and from the College.

If you would like to register your interest in hosting a Japanese student/s, please contact Mr Yuki Asano, Director Melbourne Homestay Centre, via email melhomestay@bigpond.com or tel (03) 9602 3070.

Whilst this visit will provide our Japanese visitors with a great opportunity to learn about Australian culture whilst practising their English skills, it is also an opportunity for your children to develop an understanding of a different culture and potentially make lifelong friends from Japan. The visiting students will participate in all school activities during the day with your child/ren acting as their buddies, where feasible.
