In August a group of Braemar College students participated in the 40 Hour Famine with the goal of raising $2,000 to help provide food, water and healthcare to some of the poorest people in the world.
The team easily exceeded their target, raising a whopping $5782.00 for World Vision.
A representative from World Vision spoke at assembly this week to congratulate all the students for an outstanding contribution, and Braemar College received an excellence award for their efforts.
Money raised this year will be used to assist the children of Rwanda.
Every participating student contributed throughout the day sacrificing food, furniture, speaking and electronic devices for 40 hours to raise funds.
They are were some outstanding fundraising efforts with a number of students raising more than $250 each. They were Scout Sherwill, Emily Alexander, Madi Galea, Lachlan Ellis, Hannah Winter, Ella Murfett, Joseph Hebb and Gabriel Hebb.
Our most successful individual fundraiser, raising $541.00 was Elly Jackman.
All students are to be congratulated on an amazing effort.
