Year 9 Students Contribute to Community Art

A group of Braemar College Year 9 students has become known as the Friday Knitters for their contribution to this year’s yarn bombing of Woodend.

2014 mandy camera 019Each Friday they meet at the Woodend Library as part of a RUMAD community service project to knit and upcycle donated materials for this community art project which is a collaboration between Woodend Library and the Macedon Ranges Arts and Cultural Development Unit.

2014 mandy camera 020The aim of the project is to ‘warm up’ Woodend this winter, and the community centre will be ablaze with woollen colour till mid-July.

Woodend Library’s Friday Knitting Group will continue to meet every week from 2-4pm.

The group is now turning its attention to knitting and crocheting poppies for next year’s Anzac Commemorative Project, 5000 Poppies.
